Small Business Center to Become a Reality

The Suwannee Chamber of Commerce and UF have teamed up to start a Small Business Center in Live Oak. The Coordinator position is advertised below.  Our congratulations go out to the Suwannee Chamber and Katherine Allen, Suwannee County Extension Agent for making this become a reality.

Position Description

Delivery of management and technical assistance through individual business consulting and group training to owners of pre-venture, startup, micro, and small and medium size enterprises.  Consulting will assist clients with information and advice on varied management topics, including business planning, marketing/growth, capital access and financial management.  Special emphasis will be placed on educating and advising small farmers on how to start, grow and manage a small farm from a business perspective.  Group training will involve coordinating and presenting workshops on a variety of management topics and agribusiness topics.  Public presentations will be required.  Community outreach will include service on appropriate boards and committees.  Travel in the 18-county service area may be required.

Flea Across Florida April 11 & 12, 2014

fleaFlea Across Florida, Florida's longest yard sale, is coming Sept. 12 & 13th 2014.

Because of the success of Flea Across Florida we will be expanding east to Lake City for April's event.

Live Oak Selected For Award

Katherine Allen, Suwannee County Extension Agent and member of the Board of the Live Oak Partnership, applied for Citizen’s Institute on Rural Design award in February. Live Oak was selected and will be receiving $7000 plus 4 Rural designers from across the United States will come to Live Oak and assist us in making downtown the jewel it once was.  This is a project that will benefit all of us, from safer downtown streets, to a place where we can gather.  Our kids will not only be proud to bring their friends to visit, but will decide to return to Live Oak to make their own homes!The dates will be in September or October and will be announced soon!

Trolley's Running at the Flea Across Florida

The Suwannee Valley Transit and the Live Oak Partnership have teamed up to make visiting all the Flea Across Florida locations in Live Oak easier to get to.  The Transits Trolley will begin running at 7 am Friday April 12 to 4 pm and again on Saturday.   Park and ride will be available at the Live Oak Plaza on Hwy 90 E. Flea goers will be able to buy an all day pass and ride to any location for the rest of the day.  Thank you Suwannee Valley Transit!
